For over 30 years, I have been successfully working with clients to overcome eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and more recently, assisting parents and clients with the unique challenges of giftedness.
I have found that people are truly amazing, and almost everyone who is willing to work on issues will discover that they can do things they never imagined they could. Dreams come true, grief and pain dissipate, and new opportunities arise. People cannot only survive those things they feared they could not, but they can thrive and grow from the pain they have suffered. It is a blessing to be a part of that process.
Gifted & Talented
People with high intelligence are often very demanding of themselves and others. Not being able to live up to the high expectations they have of themselves can bring about anxiety, procrastination, depression, troubles with food, alcohol and drugs and or relationship issues (including not having relationships). By addressing depression, anxiety and other issues with an integrated understanding of how giftedness affects these issues, true healing and growth can occur.
Depression and anxiety can be persistent issues in a person’s life. Sometimes it manifests around work, family, fears of death or other areas that can, at times, become truly disabling.
There are many approaches to treating depression and anxiety in adults. The best approach is the one that works for you. I offer an integrated cognitive behavioral and insight oriented therapy that is very effective in treating adults suffering from depression and anxiety.
Compulsive Overeating, Bulimia, and Anorexia are forms of disordered eating that arise from feelings of low self worth, a sense of unlovability, and trouble handling the intensities of the inner experience. Effective treatment for true recovery involves cognitive behavioral, behavioral, and insight-oriented therapies, as well as consultations when necessary for nutritional and medical support.
